Residents send their guests a QR pass from the app; the guard scans it at the gate, and every entry, exit and refused scan lands in a time-stamped log.
What it does
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Guest passes | Owners, owner representatives and tenants create a visitor invitation from their unit page; the visitor receives a QR pass. Managers can host for their building or the whole community. |
| Gate scan | The guard opens Visitor Management → Scan QR. A valid pass shows a green card; an expired one shows a red “Invalid Pass” card and check-in stays disabled. |
| Entry log | Each check-in records the time, the unit, who authorized it, who processed it and an optional guard note. The gate log exports to CSV and includes refused scans with their reason. |
| Overstay alerts | If a pass expires while the visitor is still inside, the host gets an alert and can tap “End Visit Now”; the guard confirms the departure and the host is notified. |
| Pass extensions | A host can extend a pass up to 3 times, to at most about 30 days ahead. |
| Guard shifts | Guards check in to a shift before the visitor tools unlock. |
| Vehicles and parking | A vehicle registry where a plate can be suspended or reactivated, and parking spaces assigned to a unit and its registered cars. |
| Incidents | A security supervisor moves an emergency through Acknowledge → Mark Contained → Resolve, each step time-stamped with who did it. |
| Contractor passes | Passes for a work order’s crew, and a clean-up tool to revoke old passes. |
How it works
1. The resident invites a guest
From the unit page, the resident creates an invitation and the guest receives a QR pass.
2. The guard starts the shift
Visitor tools stay locked until the guard checks in to a shift.
3. The guard scans at the gate
A green card means the pass is valid: the guard adds a note if needed and confirms check-in.
4. BAB watches the time
If the visit runs past the pass, the host is alerted and can end the visit.
5. The visitor leaves
The guard confirms the departure and the host is notified.
What BAB doesn’t do
- No automatic gates. BAB doesn’t open a barrier or a door; the guard admits the visitor.
- No offline scanning. The guard’s device needs a connection to check a pass.
- No automatic plate entry. Plates are registered and checked by the guard; nothing reads a plate to open a gate.
Who uses it
- Residents: owners, owner representatives and tenants create passes.
- Guards and supervisors: scans, the entry log, shifts and incidents.
- Access-control admin and parking coordinator: the gate log, vehicle registry, contractor passes and parking spaces.
Pricing
Included in BAB’s price: $3 per door per month, capped at $149 a month for communities of up to 300 doors, after a free 90-day pilot. Residents pay nothing when the association subscribes. See everything BAB includes.
FAQ
What happens if a guest arrives with an expired pass?
The guard sees a red “Invalid Pass” card and can’t confirm check-in. The host can create a new pass.
Can tenants invite visitors?
Yes. Tenants, owners and owner representatives create passes from their unit page.
What if a visitor stays too long?
The host gets an alert and can end the visit; security escorts the visitor out, confirms the departure and the host is notified.
Can we export the gate log?
Yes. The access-control admin exports entries, exits and refused scans to CSV.
